Nouns

Objective : To undestand the function of nouns, to use the term noun appropriately.

Recapped the definition of a noun.

"A noun is a kind of word. A noun gives a name to an object, an animal, a person or a place."

Round the class we took turns to give examples of each class of noun.

We talked and took time to understand why nouns are useful, they enable us to talk about objects animals people and places when we cannot acttually see them or touch them.

We paired up given nouns and invented interesting sentences which were written on the IWB, some of the sentences had extra nouns. We identified the nouns in each sentence and we drew circles round them.

We made a note of the definition of a noun so that we could refer back to it in the future.

We practiced identifying nouns and placing them in context.
